Why use Floral Occasions?

We consider ourselves to be experts in our field.  We have been in business for over 15 years.  Floral Occasions is proud to be partnered with some of the most well known suppliers of fine, unique florals the industry has to offer, and we always use the freshest, most beautiful product available.  When you choose us design your special event, you will not be disappointed. Stacey and her staff of expert designers and talented artists will provide something that will truly make everyone in the room feel special.  And by the way, our home studio is in the coolest neighborhood in South Orange County, our consultation suite is right behind the work studio.  You'll love our space!

Where does your product come from?

We shop for all of our flowers from the San Diego Floral Trade Center in Carlsbad, California, which is 30 miles south of us. The flowers come from all over the world, Holland, Equador, Mexico, and as close as Encinitas and Central California.  There is a huge push lately from the California Cut Flower Commission to encourage us California floral designers to buy local, which we do as much as possible to support local farmers and cut down on the carbon footprint.

How much should I budget for flowers?

Flowers for a special event such as a wedding average about 10% of your total wedding budget.  If you plan to spend $30,000 on your wedding, you can expect your flowers to cost around $3,000.
That's not to say that you can't spend more or less.  Season, type of flowers, style, color, degree of design all play a part in varying costs.  Our average wedding runs around $2,500 to $4,000, with a minimum of $1,500.

What if I want to provide some of my own stuff, DIY?

I say go for it!  With all the amazing wedding blogs out there it has given many brides ideas on ways to make their day truly unique and special. If you decide to purchase some of your own containers, or use mom's collection of milk glass, we are happy to provide florals for those items.  Special arrangements will need to be made for appropriate handling of these circumstances and special items. We prefer to provide all flowers related to your event so that there is no confusion of color, flower type or clash of design.  Craft away!  Make some fun decor for your sign in table, special favors that you're guests will appreciate, like your famous lavender honey or grandma's peanut butter cookies!!

Do you charge for consultations or mock-ups?

We do not charge for consultations.  We would prefer to meet with you at our home studio, but arrangements can be made to meet elsewhere if needed.  In our consultation suite, you can get a good idea of who we are and our style, plus we have tons of photos, magazines and inspiration boards to look at.  We are happy to provide mock-ups close to the date of your event so we can use materials that are in season at the same time.  We would charge according to what we pay for the materials used for the mock-up.

What is your policy on deposits and final payments?

When you receive your proposal and we have made any changes necessary, a $500 non-refundable deposit and a signed copy of the proposal is due to save the date.  After we receive your deposit we are under contract.  30 days before your event, final changes and final payment are due.  Please be aware that your date is never saved until the deposit is received, we will try to contact you if there is another inquiry for your date.

What form of payments do you accept?

Cash and checks are our preferred method of payments.  Please make your checks to Floral Occasions.  We can run credit cards through a trusted partner, but she will charge you 5%.  We are required to charge 8.75% sales tax.

How much do you charge for delivery and set up?

Our delivery charge for local delivery and set up is usually $150.  That amount will go up every 30 miles and the degree of setup may be charged up to 10% of the total amount.  We will typically rent a cargo van for delivery.  We also own an amazing classic '57 Chevy pickup that has won in many car shows that we use occasionally for delivery.  If available you are welcome to use it for photos

Do you do flowers for more than one event per day or weekend?

We prefer to only do one event per weekend.  Your event requires special attention and is very labor intensive, flowers are a living product and need lots of TLC to look and be there best for your special day.  However, if your event is on the smaller scale we may book another small event.

I saw this amazing bouquet in a magazine, can I have something exactly like that?

Sometimes you can......it all depends on the season and market availability.  Please bring to the consultation any inspiration pictures you have.  I should be able to determine immediately or with a little research if it can happen.  Most brides are happy giving a color pallet, minimal direction and letting us have creative reign to use the most amazing market available flowers possible.  We always ask what are your favorite and especially what your off limit, keep far away from me flowers are.

Do you offer discounts if my wedding is not on a Saturday?

Since we are self employed and do not have office space overhead, we do not have to book our Saturdays in order to pay rent.  It is the same cost for any day of the week.  Friday weddings are our favorite because it gives us the weekend off!  Now that I think about it....Friday weddings get $100 off!!

My wedding is on a holiday weekend, does that affect anything?

It can affect a lot.  Flower prices go up around Valentines Day, Mothers Day, etc.  We also may charge a higher price for Memorial, Labor and Easter weekends.

Will you work within my budget?

Yes!  Please disclose your budget early in our conversation, this way we will always be on the same page.  Also, keep in mind that we do have a certain level of standard and will not compromise our reputation and that we have a minimum of $1500.
